Preface

This issue in Gland Surgery is focused on Novel Minimally Invasive and Robotic approaches in Endocrine Surgery. It includes many comprehensive reviews of novel techniques in minimally invasive and robotic endocrine surgical procedures.

Over the last decade there has been a rapid expansion in the number of different surgical approaches available to patients undergoing thyroid parathyroid, adrenal and liver surgery. This volume consolidates these in one issue and focuses on both the decision making and techniques of these procedures.

These articles are written by the experts in the field of endocrine and robotic surgery. Multiple articles are covering the full range of most widely adopted remote access techniques and minimally invasive procedures. Several related procedures are also discussed, including robotic lateral neck dissection and carcinoid liver surgery.

I hope that this issue will provide a critical resource for both experienced and less experience surgeons, fellows, residents, and students interested in philosophy of decision making in endocrine surgery and options available to patients undergoing these operations.
